ReallY!!! Ok, for All Many alpologies... This weird end of the year has given my sickness and floods and I got to go to the hospital because of my trouble and where is all the POW FOX at, meanwhile a guy threw up (Pukes) a diamond ring out of his throat!! Wow...But I don't have pictures of that. Beloved, Icebat was with us But had to drink away the holiday stress..
heavy holiday drinking
Now Here Is Our StorY..... Its after Xmas and tho' it was not worth the fuss, This BrilliantAngstPower track is Theee prize winner that survived me through the season!!! Bless you Fighter X. If you live in the Seattle area, this is a local spitfire who plays Lots and Lots of Shows, But NOT Even Enough!!!

RuffGemz was ended following a change of management to Seattle's Baltic Room. No worries for Dance Party Fever.... Oh Wait Pony is over too!!! You see.. Seattle mayor, Greg Nickels (also a property developer) is making over our city into "Luxury Condos" and "Fineries" so the blocks that were it, will soon be replaced by high cost living units
opposed land use action
As the Dance Parties will come back stronger in the springtime for sure, the Intellectual Degenerates of the Streets are Untie-ing the knots with new social discourse.

former club Pony becomes TAMPONY after lesbian takeover
Maybe it began with the 99Motel wreck party, and the death of the Consolidated Art Works (a recently defunct art organization funded by Microsoft) building slated for demolition to make room for the condofication, and then with the popular block of Belmont and Pine on Seattle's Capitol Hill. It was the Belmont apartment building that hosted the most artistic, collaborative reaction event with fine printed tickets free to those with the access. As the party broke up the condo dwellers drank wine and stared from their condos across the street. I'd re-live this night 4 more times.

Belmont Party!
For New year's eve... we'll see... expect more.... get less.... marry many....love even more!

Party of The Year!

Miami Vice Mustache Kegger Dance Party
Our happy host  -kinoko

Welcome to Pow Fox part three.
Despite, all the live music events going on in Seattle this weekend, including Numbers at the Sunset Tavern, when I got the text message from artist/organizer/com padre Adam Beadel inviting me to a "Miami Vice Mustache Dance Party Kegger!" I knew it'd be culturally naive for me NOT to go to this party with that title and at a Capitol Hill Mansion of urban legend.

By midnight it was time to

Miami Vice Mansion Mustache Party
On route I found two enthusiastic,
mustachioed gentlemen carrying beer.
One was my roommate and the other our host.

kids were lined up down the street, hella of fix gear bikes and drunk hipsters. I was told, "Blond hair is supposed to get you into coke circles faster."  I didn't get the call. White belts weren't coveting though, I heard complaints about being offered excessive amounts. 4 stories, party happening in every space. The pleasure/confusion chaos that only Lacan can really write about.

Everyone I have ever met was at this party. On gaurd. Slats was on the porch text messaging. A dance party in the dining room led out through several rooms of the house. I was reminded of the parties we see in movies when you think, "this isn't what a real party looks like." Lovers were on the roof, Hoolahoopers were in the yard, drunk cyclists were begging me to feel up their "bodacious calves."
The back patio engaged political discussion regarding the recent
seizure and shut down of Seattl's Zine Library (ZAPP) by the literary non-profit organization, Richard Hugo House.
"It's the Hugo-Hostage!" I was told.
A Seattle zinestress added
"WE HAVE THE PASSION!"
Which began cries of "WE HAVE IT!!!" heard from the yard.
I eventually rolled out of this party, regretting that f I had not ridden my bicycle.
So thank you to the sexy kid with the fixy that walked me half way home through the rain at 6am. The walking meditation did me well. T
 See you all Wednesday night!
Bringin' it with the Remixes. Cheers!

I'mma DANCE!

Decibel is Over /// The Party Goes On . . .

This year's Decibel Festival is over, and as many have commented, it was a very low key year for this event.
I have been told that this year's DBFest was toned down a bit because the promoters are planning for an especially strong 2008 Line Up. Of course, I had highlighted the raucous night of Simian Mobile Disco, Diplo and Switch. Another buzz for this year's party was to be Guns N Bombs, as part of the RAGE AND THE MACHINE SHOWCASE, at Neumo's on Friday night, along with Kill Memory Crash, Modeselektor, Motor and Truckasauras (fourthcity), an impressive line up for a supposedly "low key" year. Furthermore, Decibel promoters are reputed for their love of the European style late night techno parties, and we saw nothing short of that. I visited Saturday night's (Sunday morning) Shameless afterparty 4a.m. at the Mercury, and Dutch techno producer, Speedy J (THE highlight of last years DBFest) was on deck with a seamless, but dry techno set. It was a luxury to be able to party at a club in Seattle 'til day break for sure. It seems like it was a cozier break for promoters and performers to enjoy the party without the crowd and chaos of the main venue performances as well.

YEAH! There is a lot to catch up... so much in fact...I've been planning this blog for months and it's only just begun. This is what goes on in the Pacific Northwest Dance and Disco Punk parties. No time for grammar, I'mma dance!! It's so good beats.

If only we had a bullet train connecting Seattle to Portland. Something that the other is always missing we want all of it. Seattle hosts Weekly dance parties like Ruff Gemz with DJFuckingInTheStreets and Sam Russo Sound System, Sing Sing with residents Pretty Titty (Death of the Party) and fourcolorzack, Pony is Capitol Hill's newest renegade spot with dance parties hosted by DJPorq and Jack, and there are the Shameless parties with DJ Recess who are responsible for bringing such performers as New York's Passions to Seattle as part of the Broken Disco events.
What's really fun about the Ruff Gemz parties is that people are really showing up to dance. Every week I go, I meet someone new and it's always about the music and having a good time. There isn't a lot of 'tude. Plus Grandy (DjFits) brings in some fresh guests djs and performances like Glass Candy, M'ChaTeau (fourthcity), DJRecess, DJPorq (Who was a Ruff Gemz originator), DJ Jack and Kinoko (fourthcity) (yeah that's me). I get the privilege to play Ruff Gemz every second Wednesday of the month. But I'm still dancing every moment that I'm not on deck because I love the music! I'm only spending my entire afternoon to write about it!
As active as the Seattle scene is, Portland is just down the I-5 corridor with as much going on and with a whole other crew of talent. Last month I went down and checked out the Un-named night at the Tube hosted by DJ Multiply (of PGE) and Copy. It's always refreshing to be inside a new venue, but it's pretty exciting to be in a whole new crowd too. Seattle has a ban on indoor smoking, and tho' Portland hasn't quite caught up, most of the smokers go outside to puff, which is nice if want to breathe while you get your dance on. This night has not yet been named, they are open to suggestions.
Meanwhile, if you are passing through or live in Portland, stop into the Tube. This dance party is free, Drinks are Strong!

Tube dance parties usually occur every second Friday of the month, BUT this next one is going to be Oct 19th, following a Free PGE show at Portland State University. After that it'll return to every second Friday of the month.

What a wonderful week to begin too, and lucky that Seattle, Pow Fox home port, is home to Decibel Festival! This is year number three, and we have already kicked it off with a blast-off performance by DIPLO (Philadelphia), Switch (UK), Simian Mobile Disco (GB),

SimianMobileDisco @Neumo's DecibelFestival SEA WA photo by Kinoko
and Seattle's own Death of the Party residents DJs Pretty Titty and fourcolorzack. Decibel runs from Sept 2oth through 23rd. This party happened kick off night at Neumo's to a sold out audience that went absolutley bonkers after a mid-set invitation by DIPLO for dancers to join him up on the stage as he warmed to Seattle with a Nirvana "Teen Spirit" mix. In the photos there are a lot of tight pants and VANS, plus stage artists and hella kids stoked on the show. Super audience features...Ruff Gemz resident DJFuckingInTheStreets, graph-street artist Claudius Phaedrus, writer and xlr8r contributor Dave Segal, Decibel organizers and performers including Christina Childs, Kris Moon, fourthcity's Truckasauras and Brian Willoughby.
Lot's of sweat, great music, and here's the pictures.

This Weekend is all about GUNS'n'BOMBS
another highlight of Decibel. And it's also going to be the
Shameless afterparties that I'm looking foward to. DJRecess and the
entire crew bring it with energetic disco punk. Pony and The Baltic Room
are going to be the features for my next post. See you Wednesday nights at Ruff Gemz.
